you guys need to chill out. this nigga doesn't dig music unless it has vocals. kind of weird but we all have weird music things (don't even act like you don't). at least he gave a reason for hating it instead of just going "shit band" and giving it a 2 (which describes about 90% of the current discussion on this site). instead of flaming this guy's reasons for being irrational, talk with him about it and try to understand a different approach to enjoying music.
my favourite band is Godspeed, so obviously i'm not on the same page as this guy, but I understand where he's coming from. besides Godspeed, my favourite bands all get such respect from me mainly due to their great lyrics. The Weakerthans, The Mountain Goats, La Dispute, The National etc. etc. etc. Lyrics/vocals are VERY important for me in enjoying music, but I can sometimes make exceptions to this rule. This guy can't, good on him.
Anyway this big pile of word vomit will likely not get a response as users on sputnik these days seem to care more about punch, 3-5 word comments including some combination of "lol", "fag", and " "Album Rating: ___" "

I agree with what you're saying. In fact, I see why people don't like music without vocals. There is a certain human element lost without them. That being said, there are great bands who can have their music speak for them without a vocalist. This particular band does an awesome job at that.

vocals are just another option that bands can choose to take or leave. some don't use guitars, or keyboards, or brass instruments. obviously vocals are a large part of what the mainstream view of music has become, but it's hardly a necessary element, and in fact, many bands would be better without vocals. again, vocals are a huge reason behind me loving a lot of my favourite bands, but certain groups/artists have ways with music that transcend human words.

there is no "bad" or "good" he's only giving it a 2 because that's how much he enjoys it. that's all there is to rating, or all there should be. if i don't like something, i don't care how "objectively good" millions of people claim it is, i'll give it a 1 if I dislike it that much.
