It may seem a jack-of-all-trades with its scattershot approach of different styles/genres, but the content in the album is outstanding.

I hate this album. This and Abacab separated the band from what made them wonderful and original .

Honestly this is probably the only Genesis album besides Calling All Stations that I couldn't find a good song on. I feel like the band lost touch with the arrangements, longing to create music like nothing else, and the lyrical brilliance of their former days permanently either here or right after Duke. At least Duke had the two parts of "Duke's Travels."

That's odd, I like quite a few songs on this album, yet I found Calling All Stations to be pretty horrendous.

I'm not offended by those who enjoy this album, I'm just saying I don't and I think 80s Rush and King Crimson alike were way better, especially with Discipline, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures.

I still need to check out King Crimson and Rush. I think I'll be doing that soon.

I'd recommend checking out In the Court of the Crimson King, Red, Larks Tongue, Hemispheres, A Farewell to Kings, 2112, Permanent Waves, and Moving Picturrs to start with.

I'll probably go through all of them at some point, thanks!

Sure! Discipline is the one I would hear after those three Crimson albums. It has probably their most technical bassist and is my favorite album by them outside their original late 60s/early 70s run.

I'll be listening to the albums "In the Court of the Crimson King", "Larks' Tongues in Aspic", "Red", "Discipline", "Beat" and "Three of a Perfect Pair". That a good enough list?
Oh and for Rush it's "Fly by Night", "2112", "Permanent Waves", "Moving Pictures", "Signals" and "Roll the Bones" (Only because Roll the Bones is an in-joke between me and a friend.)
