Why does everyone here think Stillmatic was really good and noones mentioning It Was Written? The first 8 songs on the album and If I Ruled the World are brilliant. I haven't listened to this album, nas went downhill a long time ago and he should've quit while he was ahead.

i think it was written was almost as good if not as good as illmatic but stillmatic definetly had some excellent songs... 2nd childhood, the flyest, what goes around.... all dope no way should nas have retired cmon Hip Hop is Dead was dope so was Distant Relatives, nas does sell out on some songs but hes still so skilled its worth digging througha buncha shitty songs to get to his real ones

Anyway, I still really enjoy listening to this album, though I am an admitted Nas fanatic. It is in
his 2nd or 3rd tier of albums depending on how specific you want to go.
Queens Story is one of his top songs ever IMO, and for once the beats are solid throughout the whole
album. I wish this got more love, though I can understand a 3.5 rating.
