I keep hoping this release will grow on me more, but I still find it hard to listen to past a few songs. Every time I try, I get to track 3 and then switch over to New Order.

It's got riffs but it's bland for Testament and doesn't really have any tracks that really stand out too far unlike Formation which at least had Persecuted Won't Forget. Throne Of Thorns is closest but it's still not really all that focused.

Dark Roots is very balanced overall but I feel Throne of Thorns and Native Blood really stand out



Generally this record gives me a somewhat old school vibe, and the first time I heard Native Blood I had a flashback to the old days, where a guy would give you a mixtape which among others would have one let's say Testament song (like Native Blood) and you would hear it and go "wow I got to find out more about them"!
