MusicOfficial101, it seems like you met alot of Nirvana fans who are music snobs - won't like something if it was raved about... this isnt the best for sure, but dont make you any less of a fan if you like it... I like it too! As for Kripes, you obviously don't get it, but oh well, whatever, nevermind!

I really like this album, it took about a month of listening to get into the grunginess, but theres only 3 or so songs on here that i don't consider masterpieces. On a plane, drain you, lithium and in bloom are the best tracks on here 5/5

Oh and it doesn't matter if Cobain didnt understand why people liked his songs, and didnt like or understand them himself. Self analysis is the best way of writing a decent song.

Ok so start off with the I dont like Kurt's guitar playing or vocals... neither did he...he couldnt understand why everybody else seemed to like this album

He should never have bothered to pick up the guitar, or start singing then.

- Dude you play for the love of music not for other peoples liking.
Maybe three songs are filler (Lounge Act, On A Plain, and Territorial Pissings).
Ha, those are probably the only three that I like off this. This Message Edited On 04.06.06

i basically disagree with you on every aspect of this, but this was a great review. It was nice to see a review that wasnt a 4 to 5. I thought kurts voice was great on this album.

This is a great album. I was a very big Nirvana fan and have since moved on to lots of other music. It really pisses me off to see people say that this is a bad album just because off how massively popular it is (I agree that it is REALLY overated and there are many other bands that deserve such status). A lot of people just have that attitude that they have to be an "indie hipster" so they dis this album. For a lot of people, this was the first album they owned that changed what they listened to. It at least deserves a 4.

For the record Skid Row has a better rating that this album. I have lost all of my respect for everyone on this site. You can't review Nirvana like some sort of prog rock band. All of these elements you have said make this a bad album are the cornerstone of grunge/alternative rock. This album gathers elements from mudhoney, the pixies, sonic youth, black flag, and many others to pretty much jump start a whole movement in music. Without Nirvana we would be listening to a mixture of techno and hair metal.

I gotta say, I think The Man Who Sold The World is Nirvana's best song, and its not even their own! lol decent review

The whole point of grunge was to be stripped down, and the riffs reflect that. No solos, no metal riffing, just 3 chord songs.

This review sucks. The only reason you give it such a low score is because of its popularity and you seem to think you're being iconoclastic by bashing it. 2/5 is just the wrong rating for this album.

I don't understand why people dislike or hate this album. It's not overrated and there are no filler tracks. And to say that it is boring and to prefer prog rock... wat.

I used to love this album, in fact this album got me into music to be honest. Looking back on it though it is quite simple. Cobain really carries the album. I don't think its anywhere near excellent, but its a great record - in a historical and nostalgic sense. I suppose I give it a 3.5 because the significance its had on me.

Dumb review. Didn't this same dude give AIC's Dirt a 1.5? Wow.
