I got this Cd recently based on the response of the top 100 singers of all time to see what the big deal was. I was kind of dissapointed but mostly suprised and happy with this CD. On one hand I understand that Jeff is one hell of an singer, but is he really better than Chris Cornell? I would but him in the top 15 but not as high as the forums would but him. ON the other hand I was still amazed with his voice, it is very unique. I was also suprised on the instrumentals on this CD; they are amazing and seemed very "special". The only problems I had with this CD is it seems that they could have done some heavier songs like "Eternal Life" to break of some of the softer songs. But anyway, It is still an amazing album and I am glad I bought it. Highlights for me are "Eternal Life", "Grace", "Mojo Pin", and "Last Goodbye". Too bad that he left use with only with one full album; he would have made some more amazing music.

I remember hearing that.
Jeff Buckley is the man. "Lover You Should Have Come Over" is great.

I don't even know if I've commented on this before but I just have to reinstate how simply amazing this album is.
"Did you say "no, this can't happen to me,"
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know"
Awesome stuff.
His voice kind of overshadows the fact that he was a great guitarist and had a wonderful ear for original composition of songs, from the seven chord turn around in So Real to the free floating feel of Lilac Wine, it's the little things that made this man so amazing.

I've never understood why this album is praised by so many people. Most of these songs would be good if they were a little bit shorter but he reallly drags them out. The title track and So Real are excellent songs but other then that there are no memorable songs.

Zebra, you should try and give Lover, You Should've Come Over a second chance. It's definitely memorable, one of the best songs I've heard, actually.

With nearly every single album I've heard that has mostly 5 min. plus songs I'd agree, but I find Jeff pulls it off.

i cant believe it took me this long to get this album. alongside albums by nick drake, elliott smith, and paul simon, jeff buckley created one of the most beautiful albums i have ever heard

Boooooooo. This beats all three by leaps and bounds, especially if I guessed the albums you're talking about correctly.

nick drake - five leaves left
elliot smith - either/or (only one i have)
paul simon - still crazy after all these years
i believe that Grace is better than all these, just barely beating nick drake. i know it didnt look like thats what i meant. i dont think its leaps better though
