good is perfectly acceptable I just thought it far more enjoyable than that. for me good can be an album you hate but you can't deny a bands quality and some decent production.

First Shins album I've listened to, which is really weird, but I think the album is fantastic. My only familiarity with Mercer is from Broken Bells, which I thought was great as well.
Since I can't compare this to previous Shins albums, I'll compare it to Broken Bells. Broken Bells has the better individual songs, The High Road and Ghost Inside being obvious examples, but overall this is a much better listen in my opinion. Every song is great on PoM, but Broken Bells had some real boring songs.
Favorite song on this is Bait and Switch, and after my first listen I'd put it at a 4, maybe a 4.5.
