Really digging the cover art for this. The vocals remind me a lot of Baroness, and I can see how post-

BM whatever people would be hatin'.

EDIT: yep I can see it, serious case of drag

This album for me is definitely a grower, as the first time I listened to it I wasn't too keen. It was also the album that introduced me to the band. With every song, and especially the structure of the longer songs, a beautiful atmosphere is created by the various sounds and moods within this masterful piece of work. Its beautiful, making you feel as if you really are walking through the wilderness in Iceland.

As a whole it is somewhat unexceptional, but the final song Djákninn is damn good! Give it a spin if you haven't heard it!

i don't get what everyone sees in this band

they have these random glimmers of really great material but on all of their last 3 albums at least 75% of each one feels like filler or building towards nothing

you see them in london last night? damn i thought they put on a great show! not my kind of music for the most part and instrumentally not particularly interesting half the time, but the other half when theyre going really epic and huge, they sound fucking awesome. the very last song they played was just epic as fuck. they really squeeze out everything they can from their songs. i dont listen to them though so the show was my first time really hearing them. probs wont get their music cause didnt like the vocal style at all.

assuming you saw them on their tour with mono and the ocean, what did you think to those bands?

Yeah vocals were completely shite

Ocean - 4th or 5th time I've seen them - they always deliver

First time for mono- great atmosphere

i basically ignored the solstafir vocals and found the other aspects of their music to be great. ocean were incredibly tight. great sound in the venue. mono ive seen 3 times now and they always give me chills. whereabouts where you stood?

Ocean is always amazing, they were good too, but I saw them twice on that tour and twice in former times and I felt that they lost a little of their lone ranger whatever appeal. It felt a bit too professional for Solstafir.

Great album.
