The Heir of Empty Breath is fucking poetry.

Treos777 - couldn't agree more. Both albums are incredible in their own right. I find myself listening to individual tracks off of synapse (then I defy you stars has to be one of the best tunes ever written) more often but if I play anything off of mi fa mi I feel bad not starting the album from the start. Intoxicating music. Seen them a handful of times and had a chance to speak to them each time - absolutely sound guys. Really hoping more's to come.

They always talk about wanting to make music together but just not having everyone available to do it.

The Salesman, The Husband, The Lover and Pale Blue Dot beat out This Armistice maybe...and I might put Stay Small on that list too.
man this makes me miss this band.

I didn't find out about these guys until after they had already broken up. It was a bummer. It sucks that a band this good only had two albums. Both of them are fantastic and have a distinctly different feel, which is impressive. Love "Stay Small" and "Saturnus" from this one.

I know you'll grow, but I wish I knew you'd stay small if I said so.

The Heir of Empty Breath is best on here though

Probably! This is just great all the way through. I actually prefer this over Heart/Synapse, even though I do miss Casey's presence here.

Well you know I prefer Synapse because it was in my Top 5 list but this is still great. My main problem is the lack of the three-way harmonies, especially since Brendan and Alex sound exactly the same, and also I can't stand Smoke and Mirrors.

Yeah, they do sound too similar, which is a bummer.
I like Smoke and Mirrors, but if I remember right, the chorus is a bit sloppy.

Chorus is urgh especially with that tinny keyboard sound. I love most of the songs here though, Crop/Pest, Salesman and Saturnus being great examples.

Mmhmm, love Saturnus. It and Stay Small are probs my faves. The first four songs are really good, too. So, is the Heir song you mentioned, but that weird outro thing on it kind of annoys me.

I love a bit of post-rock influence in my rock! The outro works perfectly imo

I generally like little instrumental bits at the end and/or between songs and whatnot, but it always kind of annoyed me with this band. I just don't think there is enough going on there for it to run on as long as it does.

Ah fair enough. I think the interlude at the end of Oubliette is actually the best part of the song, but I'm not massive on that song anyway.

I mean, I like the end of Venona from Synapse. I dunno, I remember finding a lot of the interlude thingys on the last one a bit frustrating. Tbh, its been a while since I have either front to back. I have them both in a shuffle with some other stuff right now, so it doesn't really work when it is supposed to bleed into the next song.
