This is pretty good but it's still Meshuggah-lite.

Oh dear Sputnik. Had this little hope this would make 5 pages without turning into a Meshuggah-jizm-fest. You failed, but I didnt really expect anything less. That's said, you're pretty far off the mark.

Hmm...Dagger, wasn't all that bad, nor was Traces. I guess I will have to listen to this a little more. The mid-ranged vocalist sounds like a worse version of Jens Kidman, but....
I'll probably just stick to Meshuggah. The atmospheric elements are kind of cool, but they kind of sound like a more boring version of Meshuggah.

so much djent, so much djent.
i am djenting to ABR's christmas song right now as well :O
album is kinda cool, a lot of times I feel myself being more "this is interesting" than "this is enjoyable". I think they have a few too many slow, hanging sections. Which is funny cuz usually djent albums don't have enough of those.

"Meshuggah is cool but they are a little two-dimensional."
Sorry but I just gotta disagree. When you analyse Meshuggah's rhythm structure, its like a 3d lattice of fucking awesome.
And their guitar tone blows everyone else out the water, even these guys. The crunch here... is 'too' digital (thin/without life), same with most other acts in this realm.

Apparently they tracked everything with a POD, so your comment's pretty damn valid. Nonetheless amazing tone for the equipment they used.

And their guitar tone blows everyone else out the water, even these guys. I agree with everything you've said, but when it's just thrown on and listened to 'on the fly' it all starts to blend together.

Willie, it's been a while.
Listened to this, and my thoughts seem to echo fromtheinside's.

If you date homeless women it's something you just have to deal with, but at least at the end of the date you can drop them off anywhere.

Best album of the year. Totally blew all my expectations. Those guys will be so hugeeee. They only need to transcend the energy they have on the album on the stage! Soooo hypnotizing!

Meshuggah schools this band, and every other djent band hard.

It's that lower end, man, that bass has teeth.
Listening to some of this now. Pretty sure Born of Osiris pretty much already covered most of this ground months ago. Hmm...

it's pwty gewd

Why is everyone on Meshuggah's nuts? Yes they were the first and brought djent to light but that doesnt mean they are THAT good.
And Fellsilent still wins in the tone category.

The production ruined this album for me, I can't even listen to the whole thing. The drums don't hit with any kind of confidence, and the guitars are both to loud, and have gawd awful tone.

Meshuggah brought djent to light
lol

why does everyone shit on djent? It's really just a guitar chord that Meshuggah came up with...technically it shouldn't even be a "genre". All that matters is whether this is good or not, and I think it's pretty good. All that said, Meshuggah is still infinitely better.
