I havent heard any of this, it SOUNDS interesting, sucks it's so bad.

This album isn't bad. It's not as good as Cross, but it's a great album.

I would really like to read a well-written positive response to this

The album isn't as complex nor as coherent as Cross was, but still it has a much more hard-hitting, raw energy than it's predecessor, IMO. It's definitely an album I'll be looking forward to be hearing live when they hit Denmark in March 2012.

i can see people liking this but only if they've never listened to justice or the influences on this album before
Sounds like me (lol). Will give this a go then.
Great review Rudy. Easy mindpos.

How is this more hard hitting than Cross? Granted I'm not the biggest fan of that album, but aside from a few soft moments (cough D.A.N.C.E. cough) that fucker got pretty nasty

I actually really like this. On first listen; I may not like it later on as much, at least, but now it's pretty awesome.

"How is this more hard hitting than Cross?"
Because Cross has much more flow and is put together better than this album, therefore it is much more soothing to listen to (because it is a better album, yes) - maybe that's why I think this has a much more hard-hitting sound than their first one. Each song breaks loose without necessarily having to be afflicted by the song before it, whereas Cross is (to me) a journey, throughout the entire album, so for me it's much more smooth. This album is very rough around the edges and because of that, it has a special effect on me and the way I listen to this sort of music.

Okay, if by hard hitting you mean jarring then i can see what you're getting at. By hard hitting I would naturally assume you're referring to it being a loud and abrasive album, which would put Cross well ahead of this one

album is what happens when Justice aspires to be guest speakers at rutgers.

Well, the album might be jarring to you, but not to some others, I guess.

Sarah McLachlan has had more hard-hitting tracks than this album. You have *no* idea what you're talking about.

so bad

You obviously didn't read what I wrote or you don't know how to read
