This is how I feel about See You On The Other Side, which I just listened to in its entirety:
I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that it's absolutely dreadful. There is no emotion and rawness anymore. They worked with various pop and r&b producers on this album, and the effect is the album sounding waaay to overproduced. I'm happy for Jonathan Davis that he has moved past his rough childhood and battles with alcohol and drugs, but now his lyrics are worse than ever. Basically, all the songs are about sex. I suppose it's more positive than fantasies about killing people, but there's absolutely no subtlety. Jonathan Davis has no strong point to rest on anymore as a lyricist. Also, the founding (and more talented) guitarist, Head, left earlier this year to become a born-again Jesus-freak. The other player, Munky, stumbles through many repetetive and aimless chromatic riffs, that don't exemplefy Korn's true guitar sound that Head pioneered.

You sir, are wrong. Its fair to say after KoRn's Greatest Hits release, T.A.L.I.T.M and Untouchables, its fair to say that KoRn are back. It took me along time to like this new album, you must listen to the whole album afew times to realise that the old KoRn are back, excluding Head who i think is one of the worlds best guitarists. TALITM was a totally different, and apauling album, and i think alot of people thought that KoRn would keep producing terrible music like that, but its different. They sound like the old KoRn and they are doing very well, this i must say is their 3rd best album. JD's lyrics are different i agree, he has gotten better, no more of this depressing crap, but i dont like the way how he has ambushed Head, Head was the platform for KoRn.

NuMetalMania, this a user-site as you know, and we're all about opinions here. However, saying that See You On The Other Side is like the old KoRn is just plain wrong. I'm not saying it isn't different from what they've been doing for the last three years or so; but that's only incidental. Every album sounds different to a considerable extent, SYOTOS included. For saying that See You On The Other Side is like the old KoRn, you sir, are wrong.

I'm going to have to agree with Ocelot

Me too. Take A Look In the Mirror sounds like old KoRn and that's why it's one of my favourite KoRn albums along with self-titled, Life Is Peachy, Follow the Leader, and See You On the Other Side.

Thank-you for the feedback, it lets me know how well i write my comments. And yes Ocelot-05, this is an opinion site, and sometimes opinions clash. This is what i SHOULD of said in my last comment for SYOTOS. Instead of my saying that this new album is like their old stuff, i should have said SOME of the tracks on this album are like their previous albums. Take for instance, Throw Me Away sounds like a song you would find on Untouchables. Seen It All and Tearjerker, reminds me of Issues, and Liar brings back shades of TALITM. And that Twisted Transistor and Politics are the new KoRn which everyone is beggining to like again..... Thats what i should of said. And Ocelot-05, i do agree with you when you say this album sounds overproduced. KoRn arenow with a different record label, and they had so many people working on this new album, including NIN.

NuMetalMania, there has been a misunderstanding, then. You said that Throw Me Away sounds like something from Untouchables, and Seen It All and Tearjerker remind you of Issues. I won't deny that. However, Issues and Untouchables especially are not old Korn. Korn, Life Is Peachy are old Korn. I suppose Follow The Leader can get away with being old Korn, too. Remember that Korn has been around since around 93', and it's now 05', so work from 2002 and 1999 can hardly be considered old Korn.

Yes i can agree with that, what shall we call it then, midleage KoRn lol??? I think all of KoRn's albums till and including Untouchables were the real deal, if you get what im saying. From there on to now KoRn have really been a nothing band with that shocking release of TALITM. And yes the old KoRn is very fair to say is Self-Titled and Life Is Peachy....i'll take that. Again thankyou for the feedback, im only new to Sputnik and feedback is what i need. Cheers

Uh, NuMetal, you don't have to thank us for the feedback. If you did a review and I gave you feedback, then you might thank me (though I don't advise it). You don't need any feedback on posting your opinion.
| | | "Politics" had a really good message to it. Other than that, a so-so album.
| | | ive heard half the album and until i hear the other half, i wont rate it. but based on the half that i heard, its awful. i was never a big fan of Korn, but some of their songs i really thought were fantastic, the big one being "Freak on a Leash". This means that they have the potential to impress me, but they failed horribly in this album. a real dissapointment because i was hoping i could get into these guys, but i guess not

The second half of the album is way better than the first, Zaine. Most of the second half definitely sounds like old school KoRn ("Liar" and "For No One" are good examples and yes, I'm one of the few people who thinks "For No One" is an awesome track).

I will agree with barosjn. I think alot of people who buy this CD will listen to the first half and will almost feel like throwing it away, dont do that lol!. The second half of the CD is the best, it sounds fantastic, thats what the should of done the whole CD and even TALITM.

I thought Take A Look In the Mirror was already a good album as it was. Even though Jonathan gives out a stale set of lyrics, at least KoRn have tried their best to sound like their old selves.
| | | I feel sad for Rob cause his review got negged cause he didn't fix the coding

Barosjn. For No One is a terribe song mainly because of JD's lyrics and vocals, it sounds dreadfull. Apart from that Munky Fieldy and David played it pretty well, but JD dropped the ball in that track.

The other one...

He must be talking about the Self Titled album, Untouchables or maybe even Issues, those are the only KoRn albums that better this one.

Really? I think Follow The Leader is 10 times better then Issues, then again, I hate filler for the most part.
