but man that riff at 4:17of diabolos makes me wanna go to war or some shit, just which this band employs more theatrical riffs like that and the riffs on vinushka, but they seem to only save it for what i guess is going to be the long songs of the album

This whole album just flows really well. Only like 1 or 2 songs don't really get much attention fro me. Also Hageshisa is so different compared to when it was released as a single. It sounds much louder and Kyo's vocals turned up. Also more guitar tones were added to it or at least it seems that way.

I like the way it sounds on the album SO MUCH more than as the single. They really revamped the sound of Kyo's voice and the guitar tones.

Agree with that Diabolos riff. It's maddening; just makes me want to get up and start moshing or something.
Mastering did wonders for Hageshisa to. Better guitars, imo. It was re-recorded with 7-strings.

This is my first exposure to Dir en Grey and god damn this album is sick.

his gutturals are lower than ever before, and his highs are less of a scream and more of a terrified shriek
The vocals on this album are pretty much inhuman, kyo is some kind of pissed off demi-god

These guys are obviously talented, but the album suffers from a lack of focus... I'm thinking they're just too creative.

Shitataru Mourou is about fucking. Which is great because the title means 'trickling ambiguity' or 'vague dribble'. Pretty sure Juuyoku and Akatsuki tie in with it as well.

Am I the only one who appreciates VANITAS? I think it's one of the strongest songs on the album, especially how it comes in right before the listener is almost overwhelmed by the chaos of the earlier tracks. His vocal range towards the end is astounding.

Vanitas is one of their best songs, especially coupled with Ruten no tou it's an incredible way to end the album. They've always had a real knack for ballads.

Haven't listened to this yet. I thought Uroboros suffered from poor production. Glad to hear the production is at least good on this album.

DIABOLOS, VANITAS, and Ruten no Tou would be my top three off the album. All of them are probably some of Diru's best songs too. DIABOLOS is this album's VINUSHKA, VANITAS is one of their better (if not best) ballads, and Ruten no Tou hits like a frigging truck for a closing song. All three are loaded with what feels like more emotion than usual (if that's even possible).
Hilarious re: Shitataru Mourou. Means "Trickling Ambiguity," apparently. Juuyoku also means Animal Lust, and idkwtf Dreambox is supposed to be (translation's out there, but it seems to have two meanings, and knowing Kyo, probably actually has like a triple entendre apiece).
In terms of cohesiveness, Juuyoku and Akatsuki seem to have similar feels as far as song structure.
Someone earlier said the 4:17ish riff off DIABOLOS is just like the one from VINUSHKA. Definitely can hear the similarity; it's probably in a different key and a few half-steps off. Also has a bit of an extra part at the end. I like to think of DIABOLOS as an evolution of VINUSHKA though, so no problem with me.
