If alongside a bunch of b&w photos of male genitalia the dude can also shoot something as iconic as this then fair enough I guess.
Nice rating though zak lad, what are your best digs on this?

Where do you start man? It's iconic as hell this one and hits hard throughout but it has to be said Gloria is one of my all time fave openers. Up there with Straight Outta Compton, Gimmie Shelter , Angel of Death and....... Stereo.

Have you listened to the two she put out after this?
AI have no idea what Stereo is, so even though I assume the dots are implying it's a shameful admission, I would've been none the wiser..

No dude just this one I own this as it is such a classic but other than bits and bobs in the 90s I haven't checked much of Pattis' stuff. Odd really.
As for Stereo it's just not one that people would opt for it's an all time classic and opens Brighten The Corners by one of my fave bands, Pavement.

Me neither, gonna rectify that soon. It's weird but I seem to do that often with records I really like, it's truly a bizarre approach.
Silence Kit from memory is the best Pavement opener

Silence Kit, nice!
Yeah I don't know 90% of the time I'll be happy with hearing what I've heard and let things take their course.
A recent listen who I have had to dig out all their stuff as a result of it blowing me mind is Calexico. Band totally rules.

I'll revisit their albums at some point, no doubt and I'll be better placed to judge. Not heard of them... but I think I trust your taste

Their in no way an 'instant hit' but they grow like you wouldn't believe.
Acoustic rock with mariachi band style horns and what not. Atmospheric as hell and one of the best vocals out there.

What about the voice of Geddy Lee
How did it get so high?
I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?
(I know him and he does!)

also second the calexico rec, they rule hard

i love how the verses are all over the place and then this insanely catchy chorus just appears out of nowhere

Unbelievable songwriting that comes across as a shambles rules my world.
Love how they did everything on their own terms (I don't acknowledge Terror Twilight, even though it's got some great tunes)
|
| |
yeah, it's a bit watered down as far as pavement go but class is permanent so it's a hard 4

30th Anniversary edition of Horses has a bonus disc of the album played live in London (original band, plus Tom Verlaine on guitar and Flea on bass)—worth every penny if you're a fan.

jeff bringing the football catchphrases into musical discussion
Saw a photo of Patti and Tom earlier flickin' through a chronology (through the eyes of the artists) of the NYC punk explosion. I kinda regret not buying it tbh

at the end of the day it's an album of two halves, patti gives it 110% but she's just not that kind of
musician and every song is a cup final now
