i mean fantomas, bungle, faith no more are all completely different entities but equally pioneering. FNM just got more popular and was probably the better of his projects

Dude, I love how the end of Medicine Wheel fades right into The Primer's crazy intro, one of my favorite moments on Alaska, actually. Fucking awesome haha

yeah but i'm saying they haven't really brought anything new to the table except for doing what he did but with metalcore. they definitely aren't just treading old ground but i don't think theyre the progressive monolith people make them out to be

You know what, you may have a point there. Although I think they have borrowed some sounds and borrowed from some genres that very few, if any metalcore bands have before (and worked them in both obviously, like on Colors, and more subtly, like on their new EP), I guess you are right that they're not completely re-defining anything. I think they're on their way, though. But either way, every time I listen to their music, it gets me thinking and headbanging at the same time.
