I meant "anyone" hypothetically, like...anyone I argue with in the future. I was just stating what I do/what I'll do.

i think the progmaster thing was just a jab at you being massively into Colors dw.

"They've written different music than on Colors, but in my opinion, not better. Except maybe Selkies."

ugh i hate selkies hahahaha. The Primer fucking rules though i wish they wrote more shit like that. short song with melodies that are expanded upon, plus when that riff comes back in the coda urghhhhhhh. gonna listen to that now actually

"Alright, you've explained the album's mission. I see that now. Although it's still a tiiiiiny bit vague, it's legitimate. It's still probably not gonna make me like the album any more though, considering I don't like how the vast majority of the album sounds anyway, which I said in the review."

sweet, wasn't expecting to change your mind but cool that you understand my pov

"Just because someone has done the TYPE of thing they're doing doesn't make them any less experimental. By that logic, that would mean Mike Patton wasn't experimenting simply because Pink Floyd did before him."

nah Patton had much more innovative vocal techniques than floyd plus he was much more heavy. I mean nu metal would not have started without him (which may or may not be a good thing)

i mean fantomas, bungle, faith no more are all completely different entities but equally pioneering. FNM just got more popular and was probably the better of his projects

"Well, yeah, they'd be different. And thus, wouldn't be represented as well."

Dude, I love how the end of Medicine Wheel fades right into The Primer's crazy intro, one of my favorite moments on Alaska, actually. Fucking awesome haha

You don't like Selkies? How come?

Okay, but you get what I'm saying, right? Just because people experimented before BTBAM doesn't mean BTBAM isn't experimenting.

yeah but i'm saying they haven't really brought anything new to the table except for doing what he did but with metalcore. they definitely aren't just treading old ground but i don't think theyre the progressive monolith people make them out to be

its like people thinking porcupine tree is innovative when really hes just an average rock musician making long songs

You know what, you may have a point there. Although I think they have borrowed some sounds and borrowed from some genres that very few, if any metalcore bands have before (and worked them in both obviously, like on Colors, and more subtly, like on their new EP), I guess you are right that they're not completely re-defining anything. I think they're on their way, though. But either way, every time I listen to their music, it gets me thinking and headbanging at the same time. I've always thought, and always will think that simply the way they operate is just so creative and entertaining. I love every riff, I'm never bored, fanboyism, etc. lol
