Very good review.

But I don't see any triumphant return, all of their records have been average at best, and the album cover is just atrocious.

Nowhere near as good as Pretty. Odd.

But not bad I guess. On par with Young Veins. That one was too far into the 60s vibe while this one is much too poppy. They're really better together.

Top Line: The album is preety good, despite the mistakes on 'Pretty Odd' (I could not resist!), but not so good as the first. In average, totally worthy!

They added some very interesting and creative stuffs here, especially in 'Hurricane' and 'The Calendar', the top two of the album for me. The use of synths, strings, birds singing is completely amazing. The rhythmics counterpoints combined with strong melodies is very captivating.

The vocal choir in the end of "Calendar" folowed by a drum riff is the most emotive part of the album.

The U2's guitars combined with 90's dance/disco beat on 'Memories' made this also a very captivating song.

I just don't like the U2's likeness on 'Ready to Go'. I think this song went on a very different path from the others. Altough arrangements were consistent, which could had made song great on 80's, the poor melodic lines are too little for what we expect from the band.

The melodic line of 'Always' is wonderful, and the overall song is a guitar ballad (maybe) as powerful as Mccartney's Blackbird.

The others songs are all very careful produced and also with very creative use of synths and counterpointed rhythmics, but lacked on having more catchy hooks and choruses. All of them could be rated as good songs but far from classic.
