Great review mate. This is one of my favourite albums of all time-it is truly remarkable.
I absolutely love The Rain Song, The Crunge, and No Quarter. The latter of the three may perhaps be one of the greatest rock songs ever.
I agree with you about Plant's voice in some of this album, but lest we forget he is a frontman, that's what they do, wail and scream and all that haha! He's so talented though, some people find his voice soothing, other LZ fans who i know absolutely hate his voice...so whatever floats your boat.
I really enjoy the softer, lighter quality of this album

I really like how Zeppelin were really trying to experiment with their sound but in the end Houses of the Holy is an extremely inconsistent album with a couple of stand outs ("The Rain Song" and "The Ocean"). This Message Edited On 07.13.07

This album contains my all-time favorite Led Zeppelin song, The Rain Song. I spent many a day playing the song repeatedly on my iPod. Really, really good record. I think better than Led Zeppelin II or IV.

This is a very accurate review.
A bit more structure would have helped, but very well written.
I have to say, this IS one of the best albums ever made, and 'The Rain Song' is probably one of my favorite ever, and well...everything about this album and review is brilliant.
Best Led Zep album, easy.
Also, what has 'Mr. M, Man of Muzak' been smoking?

'Zebra' has a point, however I think that they should consider that they may just be classing it inconsistent because only those songs are relaxing and downbeat, which is probably to their flavor.
The Crunge is underrated, catchy, and I think 'zebra' should consider their argument from other points of view. This Message Edited On 01.09.08
