It's just you, the orchestra does a fine job.

Watching the concert (obviously on DVD) is so awesome. I own both the dvd and the cd and just seeing them playing with the orchestra and damn MetallicA at its finest

I think that in songs like "nothing else matters" ect the orchestra adds. But, often in parts it intrudes in the flow of the music rather then adds. All and all the album is alot better then the ones that they have been puting out lately.
and is it just me or does james sing better live????

Great review of a great album. I've been listening to it quite a lot recently, I love it! One of my favorite releases from Metallica.

What an album man, this has to be one of Metallicas best performances ever. Great solos, great voice and Lars played well for a change lol. Good review.

The DVD's fantastic.

Despite being an obvious fan of James Hetfield, you're glossing over Jason Newsted's contributions, including the "Are there any wolves out there?" and the bass soloing in "The Call of Ktulu" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
That being said, there are many deserving songs in Metallica's library that should have been on here:
"Fade to Black"
"Orion"
"To Live Is To Die"
"Blackened"
"The Four Horsemen"
A lot of the songs on here, while good, are only catering towards younger Metallica fans who haven't listened to the older stuff. That saddens me.

I can't even hear the bass in Call of Ktulu, and the bass is very weak sounding in For Whom the Bell Tolls. But I have heard some good basslines by him through out the performance.
Hey, I got this CD today, and it was a very good listen, but one CD was an edited version and one CD was the uncut one. Wtf? Did that happen to anyone else? (Not that it's a big deal; I paid for the uncut one, not the edited one.)

I've never heard of an "edited" version. As far as I know, the entire concert is on both the CD and DVD (with the mindless chatter between songs obviously cut out on the CD version :p).

I'm pretty sure it's edited, as i've seen the DVD version of this before, and there are parts on the CD where you can tell it's been edited after watching the DVD.
Not to mention WMP labled the CD as edited when I burned it onto my computer. (Just the first disc.)This Message Edited On 12.07.06
