One band crysis/willie didn't mention in melo-death they care about : Dismember. Or is that too straight up Death-metal to be counted?

I'd call it OSDM more than melodic death

Omnium Gatherum calls this album 'Adult Oriented Death Metal' though.

Still waiting for the first 'awesome' 2011 album. Guess I'll have to wait for Deconstruction.

Their early stuff yeah is osdm, but on albums like The god that never was and massive killing capacity, I'd learn closer to melodic although the riffs are just as crunchy...currently listening to massive killing capacity as we speak.

Yeah 2011 hasn't impressed yet besides Ulcerate.

I like.

I feel like I shouldn't like but I do. I'm a sucker for decent melodeath though, especially with proggy touches.

Good review, persuaded me to listen.

Yeah this is growing on me tbh. It might die down in a few months though. The Distance has been stuck in my head for days.

"Here Omnium Gatherum empoy varying tempos and catchy riffs"

I assume you meant EMPLOY rather than empoy.

For me,what matters most is the songwriting. And they are doing great work there, all melodies and riffs are almost excellent.

I wouldn't call them copycats because all bands of this genre use more or less the same chords, arrangements, production.

Sounds like every other record they've made. Just as boring.

Soul Journeys is easily the best song, too bad they didn't stay consistent with the quality of that track.

Even though it really doesnt sound like my cup of tea, I am going to give this record a listen.
I hope it doesn't draw too hard from Amon Amarth and Insomnium.

The Distance is so stupidly infectious for a melo-death song.

Oddly enough The Distance was the song I just finished listening to. I love that rhythm riff during the chorus. This album is sounding really good so far.
