I am all for finding the beauty in simplicity, and creating something that speaks without a gratuitous concept or theme...but this album, outside of a few gems, is just really boring. Writing something about it, I'm not sure if it will be a review or a soundoff yet, but either way I'm sure a lot of people will have issues with it.

Yeah, but who cares? If those people can't appreciate a divergent take on this album then to hell with them. I'm with you though, I just find this to be 3 really good tracks surrounded by a lot of completely dull and lifeless songs.

i think the best song is this is why we fight and i agree, i dont like down by the water... but still there are way more than 3 superb songs on this album

Down by the Water immediately reminds me of The Gin Blossoms with with a good female backing vocalist.
