now now, this isn't THAT bad. it's generic as all hell but it isn't that bad. it's a somewhat entertaining listen but I can't say it holds my attention that much.

This is still so damn good. I don't know how you guys give this anything under a 3.5, especially you Wiz!

I don't listen to a lot of black metal (hardly any, in fact) which might be why I like this so much. It's pretty accessible compared to other bm I've heard.
I think it's damn cool, though the guitars are a bit simplistic at times.
Also, nice review Eno. lol I was pretty suprised when I clicked on this and saw your name as the reviewer

Well I listen to plenty of black metal and this is one of my favorites of the year. Obviously Spirit agrees too.

The record retains the most recognizable elements of the genrel(raw production, tremolo-picked riffs, blast beats), but doesn't really expand beyond them
You may want to remove that "L" and space out the word from the parenthesis. Secondly, the production on this is perfect, every instrumental is audible, you can hear every slight, subtle chord change and it even has some nice depth to it.
constantly pummeling the listener with an onslaught of intricate riffs
There is nothing intricate about any riff on this album. Undeniable.
building through the more obvious sections into something climactic, not unlike a post-rock band.
Very much unlike post-rock.
Obviously you can review whatever you want Eno and I'm not going to neg, but a lot of this is just painful to read because it either stereotypical black metal garbage that doesn't apply to this album at all or I don't know just kind of off. I am still glad you enjoyed the album though, it's good to see when an artist deserving transcends the general popularity restrictions of their genre.
