LOL at the hatred for this. I'm not a fan of her really but I got it for my mother and so ended up listening to it.
The truth about this album is that it succeeds in what it is trying to do. It is a very soothing easy listening album with pleasant vocals and a warm Chrismas production. It has better melodies than the Taylor Swift album which I guess goes for the same middle of the road market. And Kanye West which apparently got to the top of the album charts did so because it is considered hip and fashionable more than anything.
It's definitely above average, and it doesn't make you look cool giving it a one (though people think it does, which is what is actually funny).

I actually think the cover versions are the highlight of this. The carols are ok but the covers are more obviously inventive. The version of Don't Dream It's Over is a very different take on it than the Crowded House version, and really I think her version has much more feeling and depth to it even.
So completely disagree with the original review here which I think takes a very limited and biased viewpoint towards the music.
