i love this band. after being in band at my high school and having to play classical music for four years, u kinda develop an ear for something with a symphony or orchestra in it, so this is amazing. I really dont have a complete album by them yet, but I plan to fix that soon, and from what I have heard, these guys are amazing.

^^^^Judging by your tastes in music, this is understandable. I find them to be a band around here that you either love or hate. If you haven't heard any of their older stuff or the album before this (Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia), those are good places to start.

Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is their best though.

^^^^Agreed. I feel Enthrone and Stormblast are great too. The only album I haven't heard by these guys is For All Tid.

Don't even bother with that one, man. I hate the vocals on that album so much.

I'm planning on checking it out at least once. The vocals were kind of crusty on Stormblast and Enthroned too, which I didn't particularly enjoy to begin with.

Great review too by the way, I just went back and reread it. Perfectly described to how I felt about the album too.

A lot of people think this album sucks. For what reason i dont know. Nicholas Barker just goes insane on this album.

I found this album very enjoyable, melodic, symphonic, awesome production & dark enough for me.

Album lacks good guitar leads and solos. Its a fun listen though.

I agree with that. The guitars have been a weak point with this band ever since Spiritual Black Dimensions.

Progenies is a great song off of this. I never did like this as much as their other stuff. Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is pretty much 2x better than this because everything off of that is solid.

The only album i dont really like from this band is Spiritual Black Dimensions. The original Stormblast is by far the best album they have made. The raw production and the atmosphere are awesome on that album.

This album rules. Im listening to it right now. Shagrath has some of the best vocals in Black Metal. Also i think Vortex is so much better as a back up singer instead of a lead vocalist. His work with Dimmu is so much better than his stuff with Arcturus.

I think its one of their best albums, i think it has a bit more depth to it than the puritanical album, although it does miss the fantastic intro and outro of that album

unorthodox manifesto is brilliant, i love the really weird dark ending

i prefer the guitarist galders solo project old mans child..which is infinitely better then this imho. its still melodic semi-poppy black metal but its a lot tighter and not as ackward as dimmu borgirs sound.

Old Man's Child is in no way "semi-poppy."
