k, get back to me on what you think about this

Davy isn't that amazing of a vocalist, but his style--and even his actual sound, to a point--remind me a lot of The Black Dahlia Murder's vocalist, except that Davy's voice isn't as whiny and doesn't reek of douche.

Excellent review buddy, not too sure if I'm going to enjoy this. Not really a big fan of more modern techy dm.

Okay, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
First off, Johnny's voice is as distinct as Trevor's, the only real similarity is that they both do highs and lows. Johnny's lows are more traditional and his lows are just freaking nasty, it sounds like he's doing gurgles and normal death growls at the same time.
Trevor's highs are super high pitched - how does that make him whiny or douchey? And his lows sound like normal oldschool death metal vocals... so like, I don't see the comparison at all.

TBDM in general reek of douche

I disagree, they just seem like they're all about having fun and playing melodeath.

i smoked with them once and they seemed like dicks a little, but like, nothing over the top, just in a funny way, and they were fun as hell

That's pretty much the main reason they're so huge.

yeah, I rarely listen to them anymore, but I don't think they suck or anything. then again, I'm not really a death metal elitist.

inveigh, to answer your question, this isn't much like Everything is Fire. this is faster, less atmospheric, the vocals are more varied, and it's a bit more fun. it's technical in a different way, but i think if you like some death metal in general, this might strike your fancy.

hey thanks! my question is answered, hallelujah! but srsly that was very helpul dude.
and yeah, I like a lot of different dm, from Ulcerate to Death to At the Gates to Carcass to Morbid Angel... so yeah I should check this out. Immolation's really the only dm I've got from this year.
|
| |
no problem.
i think fleshwrought are definitely groovier than most old school dm bands, but they keep their technicality low enough so that it's not wankery. you'll probably find something to like
and for some good dm released this year, check out hour of penance and defeated sanity's newest
