Answer the question b!tch...

Is "mainstream metalcore" an oxymoron?

I never really liked this band. Most of their releases seem forced.

nice review, i liked your introduction, because i feel the same way

this band was one of those first bands that made me listen to "heavier" music

definately gotta check this out, because it would be a shame if it's as generic as you say

To me metalcore is defined by Trivium, BfmV, KsE and AiLD. Which are pretty damn mainstream. Lebels were trying to push them as the "new" nu-metal wave. Unfortunately they never got to sell that well. Everything culminated with KsE's S/T which is as mainstream as you can get with that genre.

Sputnik users are often misled to believe that Dillinger Escape Plan, Jane Doe, Botch, Between the Buried and Me and Cave In are the MAIN metalcore bands.
Nope...They are mathcore they got some metlcore in them but soon the whole genre will drift completely and separate itself from mathcore.

So to sum it up : Trivium, BfmV, KsE and AiLD are the leaders of metalcore. Everyone thinks they are low-grade metalcore as opposed to Dillinger Escape plan. No. They are different genres and different approaches and shouldn't me compared.

I was listening to "In The Midnights" and I kept wondering what the hell you were talking about, thinking to myself that I should probably write a review for it myself.

Then I listened to the rest of the album.

You're right.

The two tracks you mentioned are pretty much the only ones that interested me.

Well written review, don't agree with the rating mind you i'm digging the album at the moment, although i agree there is a bit of filler and there is a bit too much emphasis on his screaming.

The songs that click on this album though are absolutely badass.

If you wanted to give it more than 3 but not a 5, there are 3 other choices you could have picked man.
