A lazy White Pony/Team Sleep confusion
My least favourite Deftones album.

It's tied with Around the Fur for my favorite Deftones album. I don't understand the bad wrap this album gets, when really it's really unique and strong...probably Deftones' most cohesive album. It's also got a dark feel and a good atmosphere surrounding it the whole time...Chino is in top form and the bass and drums are tighter and more interesting than ever. Not to mention Frank's work on the keyboards, which is incredibly good and adds a unique dynamic to the songs. This Message Edited On 07.16.05

Why are Deftones good? I can't see anything good in their music. I have this and White Pony, and am totally put off by what I hear. Chino is such a terrible vocalist.. its like listening to someone being burned alive. In a bad way.

The fact that you think listening to someone being burned alive could be be good makes your opinion completely invalid.

The first time I listened to this album I fell asleep. Now, it's one of my favorites.

This is very likely the worst album in existence by a metal band. Chino sounds like a cat being strangled, the rhythm section is god-awful, and Stephen Carpenter....ugh. Just ugh.
I couldn't really hate this album anymore than I do. It's lucky it contains "Hexagram", or else it would be a negative ten out of five. And "When Boys Telephone Girls" is about as "frightening" as the average episode of Dora the Explorer.
That's it.

I hated this album when I first heard it but it's grown on me. It would be about thirty times better if Stephen stepped up his guitar playing a little instead of just trying to wow everyone with a 7 string tuned way the hell down... I'm in the process of tabbing guitar for the whole CD and the riffs are piss simple. Luckily the rest of the band knows what they're doing and made a few masterpiece songs from an album that could have turned out a lot worse.

I heard a few tracks off this and it seems to be alot worse than their other releases. It sounds like whinny cacaphony.

I think this is a really great album, a lot of people talk it down but I think their sound is really strong on this record. A couple of the tracks are noticeably not as good as the best ones it, but that's life. Good to hear a wide range of their sound represented on it.

I don't see how this cd compares to Around the Fur... I don't think they sound anything alike... I love all of Deftones music. I guess it is an aquired taste though...

I like this album but I don't feel it's as consistent as their previous records. That said I still rock out to this often.
On a side note, ever notice how much weight the guys put on after White Pony? They all used to be pretty thin except for Stephen.

I hate you guys Adrenaline beats the sh*t out of the S/T. And Around the Fur is the best. It's definitley the heaviest/darkest.
