The band surely rushed into making this album.
Let's hope that they'll learn something from it in the future.

The style is very akin to Dead Heart, but a VERY stripped down Dead Heart. This album is quite disappointing. Some good songs, very few great songs and some REALLY mediocre/shitty songs, which is a rare find on Nevermore albums.

guitar is alright, the rest of the band in general is pretty lame
|

Nah nah, whole band is good. Album is lame.

oh hai guys hope u like teh new nevermore

Nevermore have really done this to themselves by setting such a high standard in the first place
definitely. i was a little disappointed with this one but its still a pretty damn good album to me. the blue marble song is just gay though.

Maybe the reviews lowered my expectations enough to avoid becoming overhyped, but I actually don't think it's terrible. It's definitetly not perfect, but it has some good moments. Plus, the guitar production is absolutely killer...Loomis always gets great tones, but they're huge on this.

For me the most annoying part of this is the vocals, they just sound really bloody uninspired at time.
"And the Maiden Spoke" has the most annoying chorus to ever grace a Nevermore song. It comes out of nowhere and just doesn't fit with the rest of the song. The rest of the song is ok though.
I wanted to listen to Nevermore, not another Dane solo album.

As a huge fan, I must say I am afraid to give this a listen considering what I heard. I don't want to lessen my opinion of this band. I really really don't.

Don't do it.
This is lame as fuck.

Wasn't planning on it. I love Dreaming Neon Black to much.

This wasn't mediocre at all for me. Sure, there are better Nevermore albums than this, but Dane's vocals once again owns the fuck out of anybody who tries emotion in their singing and Loomis' note placement in solos is amazing. If you were expecting JUST thrash from Nevermore, why?

Both this and Godless Endeavor were a bit of a let down for me, not that they are bad, though, just
disappointing. I guess after a masterpiece like "Dead Heart", it would be hard to keep the standard.
3 out of 5 for both, imo. Love the cover art in this one.

Yeah, guitar-wise this is quite poor by the usual Nevermore standard. The riffs are pretty basic and
repetitive, like the reviewer wrote. Even the choruses are a bit lame. I guess this was recorded as a
swan song for the band and it shows.
Even so, compared to most metal coming out today, it's a pretty reasonable album.

I listened to Dead Heart, and then listened to this album and I realized this album is terrible by Nevermore standards.
