by acoustic electric do you mean an acoustic that you can plug in?
or do you mean a semi-hollow electric guitar? I'm just surprised that an acoustic would be purple with lightning bolts, but I've seen stranger things.

yeah acoustic you can plug in. I thought that was the definition but I'm not an expert by any means. The only electric I ever owned was a knock off of a knock off of a fender strat. I always lived in apartments when I played guitar so I could never really plug in. Now I have a house but barely play anymore, so the acoustic works fine.

ah, yeah that's the correct definition. some people refer to hollow-body and semi-hollow electrics as acoustic-electric so i was just making sure.
the guitar i learned on was a 1971 Yamaha acoustic (my dad's)

everything by deftones is simple, technically speaking. it's getting the effects/tones right that's difficult
Cantrell's soloing really isn't all that difficult, just use a shitload of wah and noodle around on some pentatonic blues scales and harmonic minors and you'll be fine (you need an electric though obv). it's way simpler than Hammit's even, and he was pretty simple for a thrash guitarist (not that AiC is thrash, but you get what i mean)
