The band did actually have a minor hit before this album with "Enough Is Enough" which was a collab with Credit to the Nation. The baby on this album is meant to be the same one from the uncensored cover of their 1994 album Anarchy too.
Also the Readymades album booklet more or less explained Chumbawamba's stylistic evolution into dance-rock as it shows them reading The Manual, a book by anti-art house pioneers and general scourges of the pop industry The KLF on how easy it is to write a hit song with minimal effort (The KLF are a fascinating story in and of themselves).
