groundbreaking album

Classic stuff.
Need to recheck this.
|
| |
this might be the biggest breakthrough for technical/progressive death metal for late 80s/early 90s
|

Indeed.
This and Atheist.

It's definitely "the key"

Keep meaning to check this out, I'm a sucker for sci-fi themes. Plus I'm pretty sure I've heard this mentioned around these parts enough to warrant a look.

This album is a must hear. All the keyboard stuff you hear in extreme metal bands today or whatever can be traced back to this album. The difference being is this shit is way cooler and with some wild guitar work.

Well like I've said above Nocturnus was one of the first DM bands to include full time keyboards (probably the first). But I don't know if this album influenced the younger dudes...They probably don't even know this guys.
|
| |
Just because guys haven't heard Zappa, doesn't necessarily mean they aren't influenced by them when they play Sabbath.

Stop rate it like this year's release. This is a 22 year old record which is great. Some of you are younger than this LP. ;)
