Honestly, anyone who thinks they know prog and only listens to Pink Floyd and The Mars Volta, shouldnt be telling anyone what prog is. But I wouldn't know if he only listens to those two bands.

he most likely does.

This album hits on a little bit of progression, I wouldn't go as far as calling them a progressive rock group but they do have some elements of progressive rock. I would probably call the Willing Well series and the Camper Velourium series the closest they get to progressive rock.

They are a band who have a very distinct sound and the vocals really do suit the songs and that's how this band is excellent. They are definitely not Pop-Punk for definite, I've seen them put down as Progressive Rock on websites and that's kind of right, they are mixture to be honest.

I love how in the music video for one of thier new songs, he plays a double neck but never even touches the second neck.

He does, for the intro. I saw them live also, and he uses the top neck for the intro, it's the only way he can pull it off. Also, I saw them play Final Cut, if they only played that, it would be worth it. I thought they were just doing some sweet improv thing, then the cd came out and I was like...sweet!

This is just an amazing album. I love it. The closest thing i can compare them to is prog rock. Mostly because of The velorium camper and the willing well tracks. The willing well tracks are enough reason to buy this album, and the willing well 3 has a little treat for the hardcore fans.

OK. I got over the singing, and now I've started to appreciate it. I got the album, and wow. It's pretty good. I understand why you gave it a 4.5. There aren't many flaws, but it's also nothing groundbreaking. I love Welcome Home, which is strange, because I normally think singles are the worst on the album.

Coheed has matured vastly in terms of musical talent and lyrical writing skills. I personally, have been a huge fan of coheed since their release of IKSOSE:3, and when I heard the song IKS, I was like "oh man, these guys are my salvation" Coheed has made some amazing music tracks that touch me every time I listen to them. Some songs just give me shivers; his voice tears through all the guitars and it just sounds sooo ****in good over all the music. I like the IKSOSE:3 album because it wasn't as simple as the Second Stage album. They grew more complex with the second album, and now, with their storyline unfolding, it is interesting to try to understand what is going on, and for many songs I have had different interpretations of the meanings.
I can't say Coheed is the BEST band out there, because we all know they aren't the best musicians out there, that's obvious, but I have to say they have always been one of my favourite bands and have influenced me musically, (as have Thrice, Maiden, Pantera, Megadeth, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Soilwork, Tool,) as well as lyrically.
They are heading down to Montreal, Canada on the 10th of November, so I will be sure to go see them!

Good Review. Good Album. The problem I have with this album is the vocals. Claudio tends to use way to many metaphors and it (for me) detracts from the album. I mean it gets annoying with almost every other line meaning something else. I haven't heard the ENTIRE album so don't murder me if some of the songs are more straightforward. I love the song Welcome Home It's truly a masterpiece and my favorite song on this album. This is generally a good album slightly repetetive but still an excellent album IMO. Worth at least a listen. I Recommend picking up the album if you like pretty much any of the singles. This Message Edited On 11.01.05

All the metaphors are there for a very good reson. As you obviously know, the albums tell a story that express many many feelings and views at once. You dont really need to fully comprehend the story to appreciate the meanings that the metaphors refer to, but knowing whats going on in the song gives you an idea of what the metaphor means and just basically makes the song and lyrics about ten times better.

As far as Welcome Home goes, most of it is very straightforward, and tells about a conversation between Claudio and his plans with Newo. He is now so corrupted at a point where there is no going back, and the metaphors make the song a whole lot better than it just being all straightforward. It is also one of my favorites on the album, but the album itself wouldnt be as interesting if it wasnt for these words. If you want to comprehend the story a bit more, look for the Coheed & Cambria comic books online and for the Good Apollo in stores.

I love Welcome Home, and Apollo I, and maybe one or two Willing Wells, but I didn't really like much else here.

Good review. I think this album is amazing, and I think it would suffer without the middle songs, because the songs all help in telling the story. I got this album last week, and I used to hate Coheed, but now they are one of my favourites, so it eld me to pick up IKSSE:3 and SSTB. This one isn't as good as IKSSE:3 IMO, but it's pretty damn amazing.

Most defintley one of the better albums of 2005. The Suffering and Willing Well II are dangerously catchy, along with the power metal anthem Welcome Home.

Technically, this is the most 'prog' thing the band has done yet. Regarding music, mr. Ten Foot Brett, between the long movements, the classical orchestra and piano used on a number of songs, the weird time signatures, and story behind it, it is on the borderline of being 'prog' rock.

He's right.

What the hell are people obsessed with having a dog as their avatar?

Although Twist I must admit that's an incredibly cute puppy.

This album is probably my favorite as well, even though I havn't heard it all the way through. The guy's voice is much better in my opinion.
