He means La Dispute, I think.

Well, in that case my original answer stands (sort of)... I don't know who La Dispute are ;)
|
| |
Nor do I, I was hoping you would say "YES! DEFINITELY!" and then I would go and find a La Dispute album and have another record to fall in love with.
The second part of that is gonna happen anyways.

It sounds like he should listen to the streaming songs and then tell us if we should check out La Dispute.

Sputnik higher-ups poking fun at me.
mega huttburt imminent.
Edit: Hmm, this is kind of really awesome, but I'm gonna 1 it so as to preserve my badass and overall
rebellious image.

Shame. They mix a lot of the things I enjoy together well and in the right doses. I don't remember the stream, or this review. There now though. But we've found overlap between our tastes - this and Violet, of course. I missed this on the other page. Yep, I guess we have some overlap although I bet Last.fm would still rank us as "poor".

mega huttburt imminent. ha ha, check out the stream and tell us about this La Dispute band.

This sounds Evanescence playing a peculiar brand of accessible post, but it doesn't make me feel like a dirty and abandoned 13 year-old. Iiiiiinteresting. Fitting for winter.

I read it and cleared two troll negs. I had no idea what the album sounded like from your review though. From the name-dropping I thought they were dance pop. Anyway, a different review convinced me that I should check them out... thanks for the rec.

Whatever floats your musical boat. And yeah, that review was a bit... experimental.
I guess I just assumed any and all sputnik higher-ups would have already heard it. Horrible oversight on my part.

Awesome. Better late than never. I guess I should have pushed this more, but they either seem to get responses like Knott's or like Deathcar's and not much in between.
|

I think it's just the genre. They definitely seem to be at a love-hate appeal in terms of accessibility.

Yeah. I posted song streams and just left it at that. Other bands I've definitely tried to push more.

Also the vocalist rules. She has a really subtle diversity. At times she sounds like the girl from Evanescence, at times she reminds me for a split-second of Florence (although that might be in the melody as opposed to the tone). I love her though.

I agree. I love her voice. To me, she doesn't really sound like anybody else. She sings through every song, but there's still an abrasiveness that I love.

Yeah I always feel a bit of a dick when I talk about female vocalists since most of the music I listen to is male-fronted and therefore my comparisons are always the most generic and probably useless ones imaginable but hey. But yeah my point was that she doesn't get boring at all.

It just seems like the most natural comparison for most people to make when talking about alternative/metal female vocalists is Evanescence (even if the link is very weak). It wouldn't really be an issue in most cases except I think it puts people off before they ever hear that it's barely even the case.
