lol, the riff of smoke on the water is exactly the same one as Sabbath's Rat Salad, played in a different rhythm.
Both riffs of course are based on the pentatonic scale with the diminish 5th.

You can find riff similarities among many bands specially in this era. But let's face it Smoke on the Water is probably rock's most known riff worldwide.
But the best music here is definitely Highway Star. Almost proto-speed.
Lord's solo is also my all time favourite. That fade in....and the classic scale...MASTERPIECE!

Lazy rules, it's my second favourite song on the album.

Yeah that guitar line that introduces the song... And all the rest as well, finally. Blues hard! m/

always thought is overated starts well with HS and the excellent PoH but Neverbefore and Leo are a bot average. Lazy is boring; Space trucking wears out its welcome. in Rock and Fireball are better

| |
Lazy and Space Truckin' are awesome. I do agree that In Rock is slightly better than this though.

Space Truckin' is one of the weakest songs but Lazy is one of the strongest.
|
| |
I like Space Truckin' a lot especially when played live where it's used as a vehicle for the band's live jamming.

Live it's a whole different story.
|
| |
Yeah admittedly live it has more to do with the band's fantastic live playing than it does with the quality of the song itself but I do still like the studio version.

Some of the most memorable songs I´ve heard are here, my father actually own this album and I hear that several times.

Rules.

But I prefer Deep Purple in rock , it has child in time and that's one of my favorite songs ever

Same here.
