Steve Reich (outro of Hung Over As The Queen In Maida Vale) IMO is one of the most impressive movements in Godspeed's music legacy. It's a shame they never recorded and released it properly. Me and friends made a cover, check it out:

What's the best album to start on with these guys? I've heard good things.

Start with F#a

Trust me. They are my favorite band and I know all of their albums and have listened to each one dozens of times for years.

Go in order because you can see the progression of the band (better recording quality, denser sounds, more subtle playing, etc.) over the course of the albums so start with F#a then go to the Slow Riot EP then to Lift Your Skinny Fists, then Yanqui U.X.O. and so on.

chrono is probably best, although you can't really go wrong starting with any sort of order between F#A, Slow Riot, and Lift Your Skinny Fists

Well what would be the most immediate album? Looking at the averages, it's unlikely everyone 5'd on first listen.

Slow Riot probably because it's the shortest if you're looking for the "most immediate"

Well thanks!
Idk, for me seeing a 4.5 average is pretty daunting at first, because it almost makes you WANT to at least give it a 4 at first lest you get called a pleb with bad taste lol

Who cares, that isn't what the music or this band is about. This band is about feeling. You will feel the music when you hear it. Give it the respect it deserves please. This is not an immediate band either. I would recommend going into your room or something and just lying down and listening to the albums on headphones with your eyes closed.

By the way if you are unimpressed on these first listens of the albums, come back if you're ever depressed or feeling low then this band will really click for you imo. It gives hope and joy when you're depressed. Like a friend would. It's also sympathetic to the listeners sadness. Which is apparent in the music.
