Nah bro their newer stuff is solid too and ROM 5:12 is almost as good as Plague Angel.

Plague Angel is one of my fav bm albums ever though.

Were not Dissection around by the time this album was released it would have been more impactful. Great album but I feel Dissection did what they were trying to achieve here better

Oh my WORD this is actually dope

Like a much higher energy Dissection, ngl I did not know this era of Marduk existed. It even comes with a 7 minute sadboi ambient funeral track

This, Opus Nocturne, Panzer Division Marduk, Plague Angel (my personal fav) and ROM 5:12 are all essential bm albums imo.

Definitely not a bad starting point but I'd say either Panzer Division Marduk or Plague Angel are even better to start out with tbh.

so fucking good man. this is just classic black metal. the solos and melodies are crazy here. def like a unhinged raw dissection. wolves is soooo good. a great atmosphere.

wonder why they don't get any traction here. i'd hold this album up with album 90s norweigian bm tbh. goes so hard. love the variety of riffs with that raw first wave sound.

Swedish bands like this and Dark Funeral (who I also love A LOT) always got a bad rep. For what? Couldn't tell you. Maybe not being as raw and underproduced as their Norwegian/Finnish counterparts? Either way I love both bands lol. Make sure you check Dark Funeral if you haven't also.
