Jammed this and then Ruun consecutively (which probably makes no sense whatsoever ‘contextually’ but both were enjoyable). Impressive band.
(to be fair I remember the first two quite well so this one made some sense - I forgot how many albums these guys have, bloody loads).

Have you heard all of their stuff Trif? In my head this 'transitional period' (which I shall keep describing it as, for possibly incorrect reasons) is more substantial than I recall, like they just retrospectively grew some additional ones!

Yes I have! The transitional period (ESPECIALLY Mardraum(fave Enslaved)-Monumension-Lights-Isa) is my fave Enslaved era, and will probably forever stay that way.

Honestly, this absolutely shreds. I’m not hearing this awkward transition malarkey. First 5 tracks are pretty much all 🔥, especially 793 & For Lenge Siden. Good balance between Viking / black metal stylings and nods to their more progressive future. This already has some of those future elements yet the intensity / rawness you’d expect from the previous albums are still present.
I am impressed!

I could be harsh and say it fails to maintain momentum over the last couple of tracks, the near-hour run-time is a tad generous, but whatever I’m still lauding this as a triumph
