Sorry dude but you need to actually listen to post-hardcore's best albums before claiming a top spot for this band. Go get Relationship Of Command, Glassjaw's Worship & Tribute, Refused's The Shape Of Punk To Come, Thursday's Full Collapse (some argue War All The Time is better, and Thrice's Illusion Of Safety before making waves like that. There's a lot more than I care to remember but those are really really key

Yeah you should listen to RoC. This is good post hardcore, but RoC is one of the greats man.

It's not just that; there are many albums that aren't held high in regard that are just as good, if not better, within every genre. By that right, no one should ever proclaim that an album is one of the best of all time.

People will always argue prose that irritate them seemingly, intentionally taking things out of context.

I love CTTS btw... wish they would release something new.

I like this a little more than Worship and Tribute, Illusion of Safety, and The Shape of Punk to Come but I'm just crazy crazy crazy. I haven't heard Relationship of Command or Full Collapse though. I'm a sucker for this catchy stuff. Thing is, I don't think you can really compare Emery to any of these bands they don't really sound all that much alike except that they all fall under post-hardcore.

I listened to this like 3 times a day for a month when this first came out. I don't think I'd ever rate it a 5 though.

"Poor Davey getting flamed for giving this a 5." Nah, I don't see it as getting flamed gyro. I'm still happy to see most rate this a 4 or at worst a 3.5 (ignoring Waior of course). Hell, I've been listening to what most people feel are the top 2 albums of the year of late & I'm unsure I'd rate either above a 3.5!
"Sorry dude but you need to actually listen to post-hardcore's best albums before claiming a top spot for this band." It was more a hype & personal comment Strizz. Of your list, I've only listened to 'Full Collapse' (which I think is much better than 'War All The Time') & wile I love it, I prefer the hooks that this album instills.
"I'm a sucker for this catchy stuff. Thing is, I don't think you can really compare Emery to any of these bands they don't really sound all that much alike except that they all fall under post-hardcore." OH MY GOD, someone that sees where I am coming from. Thank-you ziroth... You nailed it mate. And the fact you can compare to some of that previous list & prefer '...In Shallow Seas We Sail" backs up my point/opinion even further.
Come on people, if you don't know I like catchy hooks by now, you haven't been reading my review. I'm gonna doubt that RoC is as catchy as this. Maybe in a technical way or in someone's strange definition, but this is what I prefer.
BTW ziroth, what keeps this from a 5 for you? If I had to suggest something, it's the lack of a killer slow song.
cirq made my day... along with ziroth.

I'm hugely picky when it comes to giving albums 5's. Usually for me the album needs to be intensely emotionally impacting, something which I feel this album lacks.
Anyway though, awesome album and props to you Davey for this review.

I wouldn't say he's been flamed, no ones trying to abuse him. Regardless whether or not he gives this album a 5 i still think he should definitely check out the 3 albums mentioned previously.
This band has always had their own sound and i think it's mainly because of their vocal melodies.. I prefer songs on their older albums though and some parts of this one seem to be a bit samey.
The only reason he's being called out is because of that summary statement, but it's all good!
also RoC is very catchy in it's own special way.

Thinking about it i probably would of liked this a lot more if i hadn't been into their older stuff so much and then moved on ( this is quite a generous 4 from me). So realistically this could still reach a 4.5 for me i guess. It didn't last that long for me this year amongst so many other albums, so perhaps a second go is warranted.
