All is good, but I still feel strongly about the two sounding very similar. But it doesn't matter too much, I enjoyed both albums.

im third in line lol.... but i personally love Born of Osiris and i haven't heard this band yet but it sounds interesting. i totally agree with cirq about meshuggah clone thing. Meshuggah have thrived their whole career on being heavy for the sake of heavy and their solos are uninteresting cuz everyone can hit a bunch of notes really fast on a guitar. and yeah BOO uses some polyrhythms but they add melodies and shit to actually keep u interested. idk i have always disliked Meshuggah so maybe i'm biased. But good review... just had some typos and grammar problems but not bad for a first, i'll def check this out

"Meshuggah have thrived their whole career on being heavy for the sake of heavy and their solos are uninteresting cuz everyone can hit a bunch of notes really fast on a guitar"
Interesting comment, because I have never thought of Meshuggah that way. In fact, I do not think they are that heavy, and the thing that set them apart from others was their unique approach to that heaviness. They always had these elements in their music that keep you interested, but they never forgot to write a good, sometimes killer, song.
Your statement might be true for earlier music (or OBzen, perhaps), but I, Catch 33 and especially Nothing are going for different things. Born of Osiris may be more accesible or fun, if you want, but they are still far behind from Meshuggah's work caliber.

i get what ur sayin, they pretty much started the movement. I have only heard some of there old stuff and a good amount of obzen and i wasn't interested but i'll check out those other albums cuz ur right, i shouldn't pigeonhole all there music in one generalization until i've heard all their music.

Haha, I like BOO
|

They have a new album coming out soon
|
| |
Good point, but BOO just had a set of songs all around 2:30 so it kind of flew by. I get what you're saying though, anything longer would have been a chore.

Haha, funny you mention that; I kinda hated their new album but fell in love with AHP.
Damn, just when I though we were getting along...
|
| |
Damn my mistake, I hated their first album I mean.

Open Arms of Damnation is pretty class though.

Okay, "hate" might be too strong. Let's just say I don't listen to it as much as their second disc.
|
| |
Me too, I listened to TNR long before AHP as well and I did enjoy it until AHP came out. But then I started enjoying AHP so much that TNR became almost obsolete.
I really love AHP because of how aggressive it sounds plus the melodic guitar lines and how well the two mix together.
But hell, I think I'll listen to TNR today.
|
| |
I finished listening to it and it's a lot better than I remembered. I still may not like it as much as AHP, but damn it is good.
|
| |
Agreed 100%. Guitars took over on AHP while the keys were just doing the usual synth strings and pads. But on TNR there were some great sounds used by the keys, definitely more refreshing to hear.
Did you hear they finished 3 songs with Misha Mansoor from Periphery? Word says that they'll be releasing them on a new EP perhaps.

Haha, can't be. The date is all messed up; Rosencrance is their demo pretty much.
