I don't know if that's directed at me, but I like this album and I like Pearl Jam's first. Backspacer is not good.

Comparisons to Backspacer should not be made, as that is just PJ having fun rocking out again and this is a serious and excellent comeback. Both are great.

Just not pushing themselves at all. It's incredibly bland and there's nothing new going on in their
songwriting. Too much of it sounds like a bar band

I shan't deny there's nothing really new going on, but what's wrong with a fun and energetic collection of 11 great rock songs? I haven't heard PJ have such honest fun since a loooong time.

It's energetic, thats all it has going for it. Maybe three or four decent songs, but no great ones. Too many dull cliched rock songs and bland ballads. They sound completely spent. I'm just completely indifferent to it and i'm amazed that people here are praising it so highly.

I really like the new album, and think it deserves the praise it gets. Not many bands stay out of the scene for almost 15 years and then make a record that holds up to their earlier work.
