limbo panto: 0, two dancers: 3 (4 incl the devil's palace which is a rework), smother: 1 (WTF), present tense: 2 (3 incl devil's palace), boy king: 6
could have been a really special release but i'm really uninterested

anatelier, I guess maybe this is a case a bit like Radiohead putting out 'I Might Be Wrong' after 'Kid A'/'Amnesiac' - shining a different light on their latest material.
If the 'Boy King' material doesn't work better performed live I don't really know what the point of that album was, so hopefully this live album ends up a banger.

im just slightly bitter because their facebook post framed it as like a complete retrospective and to see such small representation from their first three albums really saddened me. i've been listening to them all this week, limbo panto today, and it feels criminal to not revisit that.

I'm disappointed too but I'll forgive them if the live versions of the 'Boy King' songs feel more definitive than the originals.
Just pleased I got to see them twice before they split.

yeah i saw them just after smother came out so now that that has become my favourite of theirs it's pretty serendipitous
