Bought this the other day without realizing that there was an expanded, remastered version that had "Speed King" on it. Blew.

I think Gillan's scream on Strange Kind of Woman is the greatest note ever reached. Period.

I like the way you think. Live in Stockholm is awesome too, highly recommended.

Is there a good live album with MKIII/IV?, I really want some good live versions of Burn, Stormbringer, Mistreated and Soldier of Fortune (but I think they never played live that one)

California Jamming and Live in London are both excellent MKIII recordings. As far as MKIV, I don't think there's a better recording that Phoenix Rising.

I love the version of Burn in Phoenix Rising, poor Tommy, he had such a bad luck in this band haha

Yeah, he didn't really show his full potential in DP. Drugs put an end to the band at the time unfortunately.
|

I'd say the best live album featuring the Mk. IV line-up is 'Live at Long Beach 1976'. Parts of that album were used for the Phoenix Rising CD but 'Live at Long Beach' features a lot more material and it was the better of the two shows that were used to make up the Phoenix Rising compilation.
|
| |
Also I'd advise people to steer clear of the terrible Mk. IV live album 'Last Concert in Japan'. Bolin had fucked up his hand (by passing out and laying on it for too long) and could hardly play at all. I think there's live video footage from that show on the Phoenix Rising DVD if I remember correctly, terrible performance.
