"their sound was never original to begin with" - who the hell with balls honestly cares? It's good.

enjoying this atm but I'll probably decrease my rating again once it grows off

"their sound was never original to begin with" - who the hell with balls honestly cares? It's good. Taking a quote out of context only makes you look stupid. I don't have any problems with you, so I wanted to give you a heads-up.

when they become derivative of themselves, then we have a problem

1.2.3.
And in pure honesty, this album is boring as hell and the 6 minute song lengths dont do Insomnium any favors.

Ok, so guess what ladies and gentlemen (nah I'm just kidding, I know there never are any chicks here)? I just made myself a nice cold bloody Caesar but since I was out of vodka I put beer in it instead, with a lot of Tabasco and worcestershire sauces to make it extra spicy and it's delicious! It's not any better that Across the Dark though.

"Taking a quote out of context only makes you look stupid. I don't have any problems with you, so I wanted to give you a heads-up." - I won't even defend myself, I haven't even read this review yet. I just saw someone else quoting it in their comment. I'm sure the review is probably convincing. I was also full of sake when I wrote that last night. *EDIT* Alright, I just read the review, and there's absolutely nothing in it I substantially disagree with. Not even your rating per se, I just happen to like their sound quite a bit, so their rehashing said sound from prior albums didn't come as a disappointment to me. Benzum pretty much said it best. I was never expecting their sound to change, I was in fact hoping it wouldn't.

I didn't think this album was all that good (I had my rating at a 3) until I listened to the entire thing while playing Audiosurf. Somehow that kind of immersion made the entire album seem more solid. I still don't think it's anywhere near as good as Above The Weeping World, but I believe "Down With The Sun" is easily in the top 3 songs they've ever written.

There are plenty other bands that rehash their sound. Amon Amarth have been doing the same thing for years and people still love them.
|
| |
Well there's a difference between rehasing a good and somewhat original sound and one that got boring after two albums.
Just saying, I rarely listen to either band

Well thats really down to personal preference. I like both bands anyway.

Amon Amarth are kind of like Darkthrone in that each album they do something slightly different while simultaneously strengthening what they previously did, and that's why people can listen to them. With Insomnium they just haven't done either
|
| |
were never gonna agree lol.

I'm not really stating opinions though I'm just laying the facts on the table
|
| |
you forgot the fact about Amon Amarth being boring and Darkthrone being awesome though
|
| |
all 3 are awesome.

Im yet to hear this but i dont care if its the same formula. Bolt Thrower do the same and its great too, so what?. I have allways loved to play insomnium songs on guitar, thats how fun is to play their riffs. Melodic and memorable.

Im on the 3rd song and my opinion is not changing...
