Actually not too inaccurate, especially regarding their later material.

That's what I hear people say all the time, never actually jammed em before.

A lot of people like to say that. I guess it would be accurate, but idk Enslaved is a lot more viking metal oriented, on the early albums especially.

They got slightly proggier on their newest stuff.
|
| |
Mhm, I don't necessarily see too much "viking metal" on stuff from this album forward. Apart from the album themes maybe.

Where should I start dudes?

Yeah, don't expect to hear something like Bathory.

Probably Axioma Ethica Odini, this one, or RIITIIR for a proggier sound, or Frost for the more Viking-ish stuff.

^ Pretty accurate.

Yeah I mean the viking metal hasn't been as prominent on the newer records, but it's not like these guys are just an Opeth clone in the bm scene. They rule either way though. m/
Pleb I'd say work your way through their discog backwards tbh.

Newer stuff more accessible?
|

yes, but i doubt you would find their earlier stuff hard to listen to since you aren't new to the genre

Their early stuff isn't inaccessible, but you'd have an easier time getting into the newer stuff probably. None of their albums go below a 3.5 though so I guess it doesn't matter.

Axioma is probably the best, at least IMO.

Axioma is a tad behind this for me.

Out of Enslaved's last five albums, this is for me the weakest of the lot. It's not the weakest by much however, given that there are still many creative songs to choose from, the best of which in my opinion being "Clouds", the title track and "The Watcher". What made me lower the rating is how sometimes there seems to be much more emphasis on atmosphere more than anything else, and whilst that works to the band's advantage for the most part, it makes songs such as "New Dawn" and "Center" mediocre in places. Still a generally great album though.
