Hard not to like it. But I do not love it. Many of the songs sounds to much alike.

Not really a fan of the theatrical form of this album as opposed to The Color Spectrum. For what it is, it is good musically, just not my taste.

Yeah, I bought this thinking it'll be similar to TCS, but it's too theatrical for my taste.

i love act 1, but i was a tad disappointed by act 2. his singing seemed to become a lot more sugary and more emo-sounding. havent yet heard act 3

It's tough to imagine any LP being refined down when it lasts 58 minutes, but that's the case with The Dear Hunter's 'Act III: Life and Death'. Continuing the genre-bending quintet's ambitious conceptual series, this is arguably a more cohesive affair than its 77 minute predecessor. Standouts are at a premium however with the hooks dialed down in favor of expansive musical arrangements & an interesting broadway feel. As always, not all targets are hit, but this front-loaded release is such a solid grower that it almost - but not quite - matches 'Act II'. Recommended Tracks: The Tank, In Cauda Venenum, What It Means To Be Alone & He Said He Had a Story.
