Alas Boney, this is all I've heard by them, though I've been meaning to check the rest of their material for ages.

Well now that you've 5d this, one would think you ought to do that!

I really should! This and Transatlanticism have been on incessant rotation over the past 24 hours but I really do need to set aside some time to check more Delgados soon.

A fine pair of albums indeed!

Indie from the mid 90s to the mid 00s is pretty much the best thing ever.

Yeah, so many phenomenal indie albums were released during that time period, and so many I still need to check out.

"If This Is A Plan" is perfect. Gonna have to get this whole thing and report back in a few days. Thanks Dylan for the rec.

You're welcome Sowing! "If This Is a Plan" is indeed perfect... and it's not even the best song here ;]

I'm having a hard time picking favorites because they're all so great though the opener hit really hard on first listen and has been sticking with me a lot.

And when I feel like I can feel once again

Let me stay awhile

Soak it in awhile

My ranking/ratings:

5/5: All Rise > Child Killers > If This Is a Plan

4.5/5: Woke from Dreaming > The Drowning Years > All You Need Is Hate

4/5: The Light Before We Land > Never Look at the Sun > Coming In from the Cold > Favours

When the worst song on your album would be a highlight on at least 90% of all other albums out there, you know you've dropped a classic.

this is such a fun listen in a morbid sort of way, it's the perfect blend of upbeat instrumentation on some songs with murky depressing lyrics on most. so consistent

Absolutely.

The two previous albums didn't do nearly as much for me as this but they're still good

Have to disagree with your ranking though Dyl. My ranking is more like:
5 - The Drowning Years = Child Killers

4.5 - The Light Before We Land > Never Look at the Sun > Coming in from the Cold > All You Need Is Hate > Woke from Dreaming > Favours > if this is a plan

4 - All Rise

The opener is still my fave I think, it grabbed me so much on the first listen and really hooked me into the album.

That rating makes me happy boney bro. I checked 'The Great Eastern' a few times a month ago, the opener is superb but nothing else stands as highly as this one.
