Their small clubs shows are the best.

I didn't really like Panopticon that much, so I was turned off to Isis for awhile. Maybe if I go back and listen to it again it'll be better.
I loved Celestial though.

These guys are magnificent. The production is top notch, the vocals are brief but effective and the overall sound is fucking mammoth! Definitely the best metal I've heard all year.

My favorite album of 2009... so far. This album has a totally different vibe than any of their past releases, and I enjoy the more
mellow sounds. Hand of the Host is an incredible track, it never fails to suck me in for it's 10+ minute duration. I am also
seriously digging the production job on this album a ton. The tones fit perfectly, and sound much more varied than any past Isis
release. Yes, this is not Panopticon, but it shouldn't have been either. This review made two excellent points about the evolution
of this band and the inability to compare albums. I love Oceanic for quite different reasons that I do Panopticon, and so on. I
never have quite understood why people constantly want to criticize a band for evolving their sound.
I also should mention that I find the album artwork to be killer. I hope they plan on releasing prints of it.This Message Edited On 05.04.09This Message Edited On 05.04.09

I think they're okay.

Ive listened to this 4 times and it still bores me. the songs in their own right are great, but they all sound the same and by the end of the album im just waiting for it to end.
aaron harris totally stepped up his drumming on this one though.

How long does an album like this take to hit you? I've started listening to Panopticon and once the tension from a build up actually breaks its pretty good, but I have trouble not being bored during the more drawn out parts.
--Ok so I just listened to the first song off this album and it completely owned. I guess I'm just feeling this one more than Panopticon. I'll rate this after I digest it all. This Message Edited On 05.06.09

it usually takes a few days for me to get into an album so im not like ready to rate it or anything yet. but i typically love isis' material, and here i find myself getting impatient for the end of this album.
im almost kind of scared i wont enjoy this actually haha

i'm halfway in and I actually dig this much more than panopticon and a little more than in the absence of truth. i know it's a somewhat trite analogy but this feels like isis' crack the skye in relation to their previous records
