What c0ck-rock band was Rick Astley the lead singer for? Hehe. Now that would have been fun to watch.

Anything can be defined as a trend if one wanted to. Was Brit-Pop a goofy trend as well? Grunge? And why should a trend automatically exempt the possibility of a clasic album?

There you go again DavID, having "exactly" the same thoughts as someone else. Going by your previous comment, you should be bleeting "Baaaaaaa" right about now!

Was using Astley as an example of something embarrassing from the 80s.

And that's the catcher, though- Britpop and grunge were awesome. Classics actually DID come out of that - Parklife and In Utero, as two examples.

The big hair and ridiculous outfits of cock rock are good for a laugh, sure, and Twisted Sister and Motley Crue are pretty good fun. But to actually take it seriously and straight-faced think Def Leppard made a classic album is a bit of a larf.

And I'm in the minority here obviously. The 29 pairs of arms will probably choke me to death...unless one of the people who thinks it's a classic is Rick Allen...

Oh, Brit-Pop & Grunge were awesome, were they? Hang on, I'm looking up the encyclopedia of music (author: David Young, of course)... And oh yes, YOU are correct! Operative word being "YOU".

Now we're judging the music on the hair & outfits, are we? I much rather grunges tea-cozy for a beanie & unwashed hair look too... NOT!

To me, it sounds like this is what you are saying: If I don't take 'Parklife' seriously, I am wrong. I "larf" at that!

Re; Hysteria... To quote the author of the encyclopedia of music: "Album is still fucking amazing".

Is that your favourite word of the week DavID?

Nah, not at all... I'm just not giving in to your high annoyance factor today. I'm feeling feisty for some odd reason. I may as well be feisty with solid arguments.

Hey Jake, I just noticed your last 3 or 4 comments in this review have ALL followed DavID's. Are you stalking his butt or something?

They're not really solid arguments. You're basically saying "Well, you think you're right but you're wrong".

And you seem to be convinced that I think my opinion is fact, which isn't true. It's just my opinion.

I thought my comparison of power-metal to Brit-Pop & Grunge was fantastic, but anyway... No, that's not what I'm saying DavID. I'm saying "You think you're right, but there is no right or wrong... There is only opinion". That's a telling difference to what you suggest I'm saying.

Therefore, I think we sort of agree. Hmm, strange!

New topic: Is 'Love Bites' the best power-ballad ever? If not, what is?

'I Want to Know What Love Is'
Has anyone stayed up late enough to have seen that power ballad infomercial? Not sure if its still on, but it certainly was last year. Some of the songs made me cry................out of pain

Haha, I can't believe I wrote 'power-metal'. You must have got me flustered just a little there DavID! Dammmmn you.

Oooh, a Mr. Big reference from Jake. Whatever did happen to them? 'I got a little too loose in Ok-la-homaaaaaaaa City.... Did't care if she was young, didn't care if she was prettttttttty".

And it's followed by Foreigner. Bonus points right there.

How about Extreme's "More Than Words"!? Ahhh, the memories.

And yes Jake, I know the ad you are referring to. And I can tell you that it even made ME wince often.
