Shane's lyrics ruin this album for me but it's still 100x better then Arrivals and Depatures.
Discovering the Waterfront is still a guilty pleasure for me.

Congrats on your promotion to contributor status Mike. It's been a long time coming and is thoroughly well-deserved. Although, I might have made you sweat it out & demanded you get to your 100th review first! What was that about "100 reviews before 2009"? Haha.
Seriously, you may be the reviewer whose reviews I've gone back & taken a read over the most. So thanks again and well done mate.

"I like metal, this band sucks."
Such an old and tired mentality.
I'm surprised so many musicians can think like that still.

AFter " Arrivals and Departures " i didn't expect to much from the band and when they release " broken stars" demo it almost reassured that fact that this album was going to be boring and dull. But after listening to the album i stunned and blown away. This album was like silverstein had remembered that it was a metal-pop-punk band that used extradonary guitars riffs with metal songs like " Great fire" " Vices" " Born Dead" and " I am the Arsonist" but while silverstein remembered their metal roots they perfect their pop- punk sound with songs like " american Dream" " I knew i couldn't trust you" A Hero loses every day" and the ending track" The End" which includes shane and lights singing to a acoustic guitar which was a perfect way to end a perfect album. Then There was " A Shipwreck in the sand" which i personally fell in love with the song which included excellent guitar riffs, perfect vocals , and a very deep message .
this album made silverstein one of my favorite bands
silvertien forever

Seriously just because we get these metal purist dont mean everything else sucks. Silverstein writes heavy and catchy songs,Thats what got me into them. I dont just listen to all bands in their genre but They are pretty much one of the best at this time. Now bands like bring me the horizon and Brokencyde are bad bands. Just because they write some songs about relationships doesnt mean they have no talent.Even Killswitch Engage writes stuff like that, cough cough The End Of Hearteache.Big fucking deal. This album is great .Discovering the waterfront is their best IMO.
