jesus this rules
only mpp beats it for this year

This beats MPP for me but MPP lost it's steam so I don't know where this album ranks.
Maybe a 4-4.5

Been meaning to listen to them for awhile now. Will probably listen to them sooner or later

modest mouse doesn't suck. they just (and i hate to use this cliche because usually douchebag, phony indie scenesters use it) sold out. modest mouse is making pop music now. their new stuff is catchy, but it's not why i got into modest mouse. they could still redeem themselves though

I agree, Modest Mouse does not suck. Cymbals rules...And The Hazy Sea, Cold Spring and Wind Phoenix all pack an album's worth of surprises into them. Amazing stuff. P.S., I can find a way to dig all of MM's delicious tunes, even if they have shifted in a more poppy direction (arguable at times). P.S. I really really want to get into Built To Spill bad, someone guide me. cheers

mpp and this are totally battling it out for best album of the year
i think mpp edges it out because it's an album that had more of an impact on me but i kinda think this is a better album

More people need to listen to this and shit their pants.
i am still all over this
im sure that this will place in my top 3 of the year with animal collective and the antlers but there's also propagandhi and japandroids and mew and flaming lips and brand new and built to spill and florence and the machine and mono lurking in the honourable mentions and i still haven't heard the new do make say think or mewithoutyou or strung out, so my end of year top 3/top 5 is going to fuck my brain : (

Will need to give this more listens because right now most of it just seems quite messy.
Scratch that, the first half seems like a mess. The second half is quite excellent, especially What Dogs See.
