Good question, i dont know. They sold Gareth Bale to Tottenham for about 10m too. Maybe they had debt to pay off?

I don't know about the Southampton money situtation but hey Newcastle drew 1-1 today, that's....slightly better than losing. But considering we're 16th...not that much better.

Good to see Liverpool hand Man U's asses to them too.

And on topic, I haven't listened to this whole album in a while, but at a place I worked nights at a few years ago we were allowed to put music on, and one of my friends put this album on quite often. It was pretty good. I'd say 3-3.5, but it has been a while. This Message Edited On 03.14.09

Forgot about Bale (since he is mostly injured also). Walcott was rumored to be just over 30 million, while Bale & Jones combine to about 20 million. That's 50 million pounds & I doubt it was used to buy any players in the current squad!

Yes, both our teams drew and unfortunately that is not enough for either Newcastle or Southampton. The relegation fight in Championship is now down to 6 clubs with 8 games remaining. The odds for survival are unfortunately not good. At least Newcastle have a few more teams to scrap with in the Premier League.

As for Liverpool vs Man Utd, Rafa can't wipe the smile off his face. I presume he will be splashed all over every paper today...

If you give 'Franz Ferdinand' another listen PhantomLimb, let us know of your updated rating. I think your "matured" music appreciation would like it even more now. Of course, it could be totally opposite, but I'm thinking positively!

Well I liked the singles from their latest (not that it really has any effect on how I'd feel aboutthis album as it seems a slightly different style) so I'm thinking of going back and relistening.

Newcastle might have a few more games but as AliW said earlier they're all pretty much against good teams so it's going to be a close one.

I'm glad about Liverpool winning just because of Ferguson and Rooney's gloating in the papers in the build up to the match. This Message Edited On 03.14.09

In a way, I can't blame Ferguson gloating in the papers before the match since pretty much every time he has tried to play mind games with opposition managers before, it has worked.

The thing is, with regards to the premier league title, it is probably too late for Liverpool or Chelsea to do anything about it now. Both (especially Liverpool) have dropped too many points at lower clubs that they shouldn't have.

The one thing we can hope for is that the 2 clubs meet once more in the Champions League draw somewhere down the line since they have both made the final 8. Now there would be some great heat during those 2 legs.

Who do you follow anyway (I know you're not going to say Pompey).

I'm a life long Gooner mate.

Oh and

Walcott was rumored to be just over 30 million

I don't know what currency your mentioning, Walcott cost us £12million.This Message Edited On 03.18.09

The article I saw must have exchanged into Australian dollars as our dollar was terribly weak at the time. It's a little stronger now since I believe there have been a few banking problems over there in the U.K. I'll hopefully be getting 50 pence for my 1 Aussie dollar in a couple of months time. Pretty sad when 1 for 2 is seen as a positive!

And no matter how many million pounds it was, the money obviously didn't go on replacement players!

Agreed. Can't see them going back to this kind of (for want of a better word) simplicity though.

Haha. Well, I wouldn't use that word... But yeah, Franz are about as much chance as sounding like this again AS Jens Lehmann is a chance to make a comeback for Arsenal.

Oh, hang on a tick...

First Sol Campbell, then Jens Lehmann, next it'll be freaking Sylvinho as an emergency left back.

This thread is a good football themed one. The right kind of football at that.

The arch-duke Franz Ferdinand may even get a game for Arsenal.

I'm honoured that it is my review that houses such a milestone.

Album is sensational. Too bad that FF will never get back to this quality.
